Global Energy Redux

Any theories on why the global energy section has entirely to do with alternative fuels?

    The first thing I would assume is intelligence: They're probably just as aware as we are that civilization could be screwed by climate change.

    Second I might suggest guilt.

    Third I'd say they probably have a surplus of unemployed, over-educated engineers who would rather write and read about cool geeky things like energy innovation than drive a taxi.

    Fourth I'd say it's a relatively safe way for state media to make the government seem progressive.

    Five, U.S. biofuels are an easy potshot.

    Six, everybody's feeling the energy crunch.
